Having began his 30+-year legal career as a tax lawyer, Joseph Aboyoun has developed tremendous experience – and extensive relationships – working with automobile dealers and those with whom they do business. Joe now spends much of his time representing his clients in negotiating the purchase and sale of dealerships. This includes the issues that typically arise in sales and acquisitions, as well as circumstances like franchise protests, terminations and other franchise-related disputes. In addition, Joe has extensive experience in resolving many franchise disputes through the use of applicable mediation processes. Joe also works with dealers and others on estate planning and succession planning issues.
He has been actively involved in the National Association of Dealer Counsel (NADC), a nationwide organization of attorneys who represent automobile and other vehicle dealers, as well as the American Bar Association Forum Committee on Franchising; he has written and spoken on a wide variety of topics for both organizations. In addition, Joe has taught classes in buying and selling automotive dealerships, and has spoken on estate planning topics as well.

In 1985, Steven Gibson joined his father’s firm to serve as Vice President and Director of Marketing. He provided the company with a new sense of direction and growth. The firm became Gibson Insurance Group. With increased staff and resources, the younger Gibson moved to a specialized focus with a strong emphasis on complex accounts. Gibson Insurance Group gained a reputation as a major writer of Trucking risks, targeted Professional Coverage for Architects, Engineers and entered the Garage Liability market for the Automotive Industry.
In 1994, Steven Gibson left the family business to pursue a career with Universal Underwriters specializing in coverage for the Automotive Industry. After a successful tenure with Universal, Gibson returned to Florida to work for John Deere Insurance Group. Again, the focus was on the Dealership arena. Gibson remained a Top Producer for Deere as they transitioned to Sentry Insurance Group.
In 2001, Gibson returned to the family business, changing the name to Dealer Risk Services, and moved its operation to Florida’s east coast. DRS became a dedicated provider of Risk Management Services and insurance placements for the Automotive, Truck, Equipment, and Marine Industries.
