Group 1 Automotive this week officially launched its online purchase process. From browsing inventory to obtaining financing to valuing a trade-in to home delivery, a consumer could buy a car without ever walking into a dealership. We should all watch AcceleRide, as the service is known, closely. Dealers say customers are always going to want to come in and kick the tires before a purchase. Group 1 is testing that.
In this week’s issue we have two new contributors! First, Sam Jordan, a service advisor here in Southern California, offers some excellent advice from the trenches regarding the importance of retaining and rewarding staff after a buy sell.
Car sales are slowing because, for one, Millennials don’t want to own cars, right? Maybe not. Alex Koustas, senior economist with another new contributor, BMO Harris Bank, this week writes that that slowing population growth is a factor behind the sales slowdown, and that stats show ride sharing isn’t exactly a hugely-popular mode of transportation despite all the talk.
And, of course, we have Transaction News.
Enjoy!
