The UAW strike against GM drags on, and dealers with GM-brand franchises may face a shortage of important models – read here pickups – as a result, according to Michelle Krebs, Autotrader’s executive analyst. The economy is also facing some headwinds as the trade war drags on and economic growth slows. The consumer seems to remain fairly confident, however.
So, NADA is sticking with its 16.8 million SAAR forecast for 2019 and Cox Automotive figures this year’s SAAR will come in “at or near” its 16.9 million forecast. Not bad given the negative factors tugging on sales.
