Although many dealers may dread their arrival, electric vehicles have arrived, and more are coming. According to a recent Cox Auto study, dealerships and consumers have the same reservations regarding electric vehicles, mainly cost, battery life, and charging infrastructure.
These barriers are actually coming down pretty quickly, but auto manufacturers are doing a poor job of educating dealers about EVs, the study found. In turn, dealerships aren’t educating consumers. Most OEs are coming out with more EV models in the next few years. They better step up their education of, and cooperation with, dealerships if they hope to sell those EVs, the study suggests.
