Retail sales of new light vehicles are forecast to bump up slightly when adjusted for the additional selling day this November, said a joint forecast by J.D. Power and LMC Automotive.
That rise will have been accomplished by generous incentives as dealers try to move older models off their lots, said Thomas King, Senior Vice President of the Data and Analytics Division at J.D. Power. “Strong promotional activity over the holiday weekend is expected to drive spending to the highest level ever,” he said.
As always, dealers are finding ways to move the metal. And with consumers still apparently willing to spend even as companies become more cautious, there is no reason to think 2019 won’t end with a very satisfactory SAAR.
ABSR is taking a break this week to celebrate Thanksgiving. We wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving. See you in December.
