This week I read, in the span of a few days stories about: Jaguar Land Rover making a $25 million investment in ride-sharing firm Lyft, aiming to speed up its autonomous driving technology development; Apple CEO Tim Cook confirming Apple is developing self-driving technology; and that GM has launched a 130-unit fleet of autonomous Bolt EVs. Sense a trend here? Autonomy is coming, and faster than you might think.
Where do dealerships fit into a future where cars drive themselves? Where there are mostly fleets rather than individual owners? I’m talking to folks from all around the industry about that right now. If you have some thoughts on that topic I’d love to hear them. Drop me an email at alysha@automotivebuysellreport.com and we can set up a time to talk.
Meanwhile, the work of putting out a weekly issue continues. This week, I interview Chuck Piano, who just acquired a dealership of his own after being suddenly booted out of his previous partnership after his partner passed away. It is a happy ending for Piano, who is excited to start growing business at his new dealership.
Cybercrime is not a part of a buy sell, hopefully. But the value of a dealership that is the target of cyber criminals certainly takes a hit, both in reputation and earnings. This week, CLAConnect discusses where a dealership should watch out for cybercrime and some steps you can take to prevent it.
And we have, as always, Transaction News.
Enjoy!
