There are many layers in a buy sell deal and we at Automotive Buy Sell Report aim to give readers some good information about many of those layers. This week we look at environmental assessments. Current laws regarding environmental hazards didn’t come into effect until the late 80’s. If you are buying or selling a dealership built before then, there could be contamination from sources that no longer exist. Even if the facility has been completely replaced the ground underneath it could have contaminants.
Wally Jensky from JHA Environmental Inc. talks me through the potential causes of contamination and some suggested actions. Given image program demands from the manufacturers, this is good information even if you are in an older facility that will need to be replaced.
We also look at another topic that enters into many buy sell deals, succession planning. Don Ray of Portfolio Reinsurance walks us through the Succession Matrix the International Succession Planning Association™ recommends a dealership owner go through to determine how ready he or she is for succession.
As always, we also have the latest Transaction News.
Enjoy!
