I consider following seemingly tangential developments that will impact dealership’s value and therefore the buy/sell environment as part of my job as editor and publisher of Automotive Buy Sell Report.
So I listened to a recent press conference by the Consumer Federation of America to announce the findings of a survey looking at consumer attitudes towards electric vehicles.
The guys at the Federation were surprised at the level of interest in EVs given the level of sales. They found that a significant portion of drivers are interested in buying an electric vehicle as their next car.
Dealers probably feel that EVs are a pain to sell because they require special training and they aren’t going to bring in a steady stream of aftermarket sales and service. But EVs are coming. The CFA isn’t the only survey to come out recently that shows growing interest in EVs. Dealers can’t bury their heads in the sand on this issue.
Also this week we are re-running a column by Wallace Jensky on environmental assessment. You might think this is a dry topic, but it can make or break a deal.
For sure, as contributor Mark Johnson points out in our site’s first educational video, having an environmental assessment done can speed the deal along. This is the first of what we hope will be a library of educational videos on various aspects of buying and selling dealerships that readers can refer to as a resource. If you are interested in having a similar video on the site, please let us know.
And, finally, Transaction News has some interesting deals this week.
Enjoy!
