The average price of a new car in March rose 1.7 percent compared to the same month in 2016 to $34,342, but full-size truck prices are down two percent and transaction prices for subcompact SUVs are down three percent, reports Kelley Blue Book.
Rising incentives and discounts on cars have become common, but now they are growing more in truck and SUV segments due to slowing consumer demand for new vehicles and high inventory levels, says KBB.
