We aim to be a news and resource center for professionals in the buy sell industry and dealers looking to buy or sell a store. This week we have two columns looking at two crucial areas, finding the money to get the deal done and assigning a value to an important part of any dealership’s cost, the real estate.
Brad Carter, who has been on our pages in the past, returns to talk about his new book, A Guide to Appraising Automobile Dealerships. Carter doesn’t just tout his book, however. He tells us some of the things that make a dealership appraisal unique – think image programs, for one. Because dealerships are not your ordinary business, it helps to know how the real estate value was arrived at.
That can be handy when you seek financing for a deal. Attorney Joe Aboyoun in this issue looks at capitalizing a buy sell deal. As in appraisal, there are unique challenges to capitalizing a dealership buy sell.
As Brad mentions, times are good for dealers right now and they are out there looking for properties to acquire. You can find out who was successful in their quest by looking at our Transaction News.
Enjoy!
