Dealer profiles are always fun for me. I love talking with dealers about how they got into the car business and, usually, how and why they just acquired a new store. It is even more fun when I get to talk with a fellow Texan.
This week I talked with Levi Douglass, owner of two Nissan dealerships in Texas, including one whose acquisition was just finalized on April 1. Though my first thought was that Nissan had somehow engineered the change in ownership, in this case the sale came about because Douglass had known the previous owners for many years. Now he is set to grow the new dealership, and to continue growing his small dealership group.
Also this week, our long time contributor Erin Tenner returns with the third installment in her Buy/Sell Basics series. The devil is in the details, and Tenner’s series points out some details that can save you both money and headaches when selling or acquiring a dealership. This installment looks at pitfalls to watch out for in a stock sale purchase agreement.
Then of course there is Transaction News. It’s been a rather busy week in the buy/sell world.
Enjoy!
