Automotive Buy Sell Report had a booth at the NADA show last week. While it seemed like dealership traffic was down compared to 2015, we did have a very fruitful event. One of the most enjoyable aspects was having a chance to visit with many of our contributors. Many thanks to those who dropped by the booth to spend half an hour or more. It was especially gratifying to see how much our contributors enjoyed talking with their fellow contributors when their paths crossed.
We launched our new directory at the show and the response was very positive. We look forward to growing and improving it in coming months.
The day before the expo opened, I attended the Automotive News Retail Forum. There was a lot of talk about the good times ending, or at least hitting a plateau, though there was no concurrence on exactly when that might occur.
Dealership buy-sell was the topic of one panel at the Forum. Our contributors Tim York and Mark Johnson were both participants. For more on what they talked about, see my story in this issue. What I didn’t write about is their banter regarding the value of Nissan dealerships. Tim York, managing partner of DHG Dealerships said, “Nissan should be a really great franchise.”
But it isn’t seen as such. Other panelist provided some reasons why that might be in a free-wheeling discussion. In this issue, attorney Len Bellavia details the policies that Nissan has put into place and how they impact the market for Nissan dealerships.
We also have Transaction News.
Enjoy!
