NADA is upon us! I am rushing to finish this week’s column because I leave for San Francisco in just a few hours to attend the annual NADA meeting and convention. Of course I’ll be hopscotching between summits on Thursday and hob-knobbing with some of you at the opening reception on Thursday evening, I’m sure.
This week Automotive Buy Sell Report debuts our new look! Let us know what you think and of course if you would like to contribute or be listed in our directory. Meanwhile, Eric Tenner returns to our pages this week with some concise advice on protecting yourself against environmental liability if you are buying, selling, or operating a dealership. Wally Jensky visited before also contributed to this week’s column.
I participated this week in an Automotive News webinar featuring Josh Pope from consultancy Urban Science in which Josh talked about how Urban Science uses a cornucopia of data to produce detailed portraits of the sales environment in specific areas.
It was an eye-opener. By drilling down to registration, model type, and zip code levels to name a few inputs, Urban Science can show where sales are being lost or gained. That is a super simplistic overview of what Pope revealed. I tried to at least give a flavor of it in my piece this week, however.
We also have an updated schedule of the contributors who will be at our NADA booth. Do stop by to chat with them. We are in booth 6333W. And any new subscribers to our Report gets a free shoebag while supplies last!
As always, we also bring you the latest Transaction News.
Enjoy!
