Capital Automotive has appeared on our site several times in recent weeks, first in my interview with Willie Beck, SVP and director of acquisitions at Capital Automotive Resources and then in a column by Willie about when leasing is a good idea.
This week CARS appears again, but not in person. The company is being acquired by Brookfield Property Partners and neither side will comment until the deal closes, which is expected to happen in the fourth quarter of this year. Since they wouldn’t comment, I talk to Mark Johnson, president of M.D. Johnson Inc. about what the deal means for each party and its significance for the dealership industry as a whole.
I also talk to Steve Zabawa, owner of Rimrock Auto Group in Billings, Montana about his circuitous route to acquisition of a Chevrolet store in nearby Laurel. Right of first refusal, a theme we have explored on this site, plays an important role in the deal.
Enjoy!
