AutoCanada, the largest publicly-listed dealership group in Canada, has entered the U.S. market for the first time with the acquisition of family-owned Grossinger Automotive Group of Illinois.
The acquisition included 15 franchises: Audi, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Hyundai, KIA, Lincoln, Mercedes-Benz, Subaru, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Volvo.
It did not include Grossinger Autoplex in Lincolnwood, IL, which the Zeigler Auto Group acquired. The Lincolnwood location, which has Cadillac, Buick, and GMC franchises, was sold to Zeigler at the behest of General Motors, Ryan Kerrigan told Automotive Buy Sell Report.
Kerrigan Advisors facilitated this transaction and provided this information. According to Kerrigan, this is the largest acquisition of an international dealership group in U.S. history.
