Propelled by demand for SUV and trucks, new vehicle transaction prices hit a record high of $34,077 in 2016 and will rise to $35,000 in 2017, says Edmunds.com.
Leasing has made higher-priced SUVs and trucks more available, and light trucks account for 62 percent of the market, says Edmunds.
That will continue to boost transaction prices.
