Victory Auto Group is on a tear. The family-owned company has bought nearly two dozen stores in the last few years and is always looking for more. Its founder didn’t come from an automotive background, though he earned his chops on the sales room floor. In this issue, I talk to the Group’s chief operating officer about Victory’s acquisition strategy and how it boosts sales at the stores it acquires.
In early April, we ran a link to a story about soil contamination slowing a dealership remodeling project in the State of Washington. Environmental issues can also slow or scupper a buy sell process. In this issue, Eric Schmitz of KPA discusses how environmental compliance can smooth the way for a deal to get done successfully. It can be complicated and time-consuming to follow all those state and federal regulations, but not doing so can come back to haunt you when you want to sell!
As many of you know, I worked in China for many years. I still head back several times each year on business (I do some consulting work related to the China automotive world). This week I head for AutoChina, which this year is being held in Shanghai.
I would tweet from there but Twitter is blocked in China. So I’ll let you know how the market looks there, and maybe something about the buy sell world as well, when I return.
Meanwhile, check out Transaction News and enjoy this week’s issue!
